So, today I did a photo shoot and interview for a New Jersey newspaper to promote the show we're doing at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (Newark, New Jersey) on Thursday Sept. 8th. The event is the JP Morgan sponsored Sounds Of The City summer festival. We'll be playing our set from 6:30pm to 7:15pm. It's a great outdoor festival and we'll be doing the show with Tortured Soul, so it's gonna be a hot night!! Anyway, the photo shoot went well. We did it at several locations in and around NJPAC and got some good shots. The article will be on the front page of the Montclair Times entertainment section and will be available on Sept. 1st.
While I was at the photo shoot, I met a VERY talented young lady named Sparlha Swa who was getting ready to do a solo performance at NJPAC. We exchanged cds and her album, "In The Distance" is FIERCE!! Acoustic, soulful, strong world music influence, meaningful lyrics and very well produced. Her sound (to me) has strong influences of Sade, Tracy Chapman, Milton Nascimento and her own unique style all blended together. Definitely check for her at: www.sparlhaswa.com.
